How do I enable POP?

Having troubles with POP configuration? Windows users can download the Shenango Valley Email Tool to automatically configure your email client.

You can retrieve your webmail messages with a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail.

To enable POP in your webmail account:

  1. Log in to your webmail account.
  2. Click Settings at the top of any webmail page.
  3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

  5. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
  6. Choose the action you'd like your mail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
  7. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.

Manually Configuring mail clients

You can use the following information to configure POP with many mail clients.

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires SSL:
Use Authentication: Yes
Use SSL Yes
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your webmail username (including @
Email Address: your full SVOL email address (username
Password: your SVOL password

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.

* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in webmail? To ensure that webmail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save Changes on the webmail Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings page.
